Rat Race

No matter what anyone says about the honor in practicing law, at this end it feels like a rat race. Everyone's scrambling to get some "meaningful experience" somewhere, anywhere that will take them. Now, some people have it easier; it's undeniable that being on the Dean's list is an incredible honor and quite a leg up in the national competition for those "experience-rich" judicial externships. But the rest of us have to find somewhere that will take people who know their way around a brief (kind of) and know how to find cases on point (if you give us a computer with broadband access and an unlimited Lexis or Westlaw account).

Where to go? Where to live? What to do? Thoughts like these are omnipresent in the law school milieu now, even though it's only February (already?) and we still have writing assignments, Civ Pro, Con Law, an elective, and Property to contend with. Oh, and let's not even talk about the dreaded final exams (shhhh!).

Which reminds me, I need to go study.
